My dad was only 11 years old when he made a name for himself by breaking into the local Police Station.
Picture the scene…its June 1942 and England is at war with Germany. A Messerschmitt has crash landed on the South Downs after a ‘Dog Fight’ over the English Channel and a German airman has been captured by the Home Guard.
In the sleepy English village where my dad lived, the presence of ’A Gerry’ in the police station was big news. Which was when my Dad hatched a plan to ‘liberate’ the buttons off the Airman’s uniform. Continue Reading…
